We offer a comprehensive range of ecological services that extend from project inception through to completion.

We also assist in the development of corporate biodiversity strategies, communication and interpretation work as well as working with stakeholders and partners etc. Key areas of work are summarised below but should you need assistance with a biodiversity related issue then please contact us to discuss your specific requirements.

Habitat and Species Surveys and Monitoring
Collecting reliable site data is often where our involvement in a project starts. Whether it is a habitat survey of the Lake District Fells or a bat survey in urban Newcastle we recognise that we need not only to survey accurately but to be able to evaluate the significance of what we record.

Biodiversity Action Plans and Biodiversity Management Systems
An increasing number of our clients are requesting that we prepare Biodiversity Action Plans (BAP) and Biodiversity Management Systems (BMS) for them. These are used to assist them in setting biodiversity targets, monitoring performance against these as well as for demonstrating compliance with wildlife legislation in a systematic and auditable manner which is compatible with the requirements environmental management systems such as ISO 14001.

Biodiversity Planning Design

Biodiversity Planning, Design and Mitigation
Very few sites come without ecological constraints. We like to work as part of the project design team to firstly identify them, and then establish how to avoid or minimise adverse impacts whilst maximising biodiversity benefits. Our involvement in some projects has extended over many years from conception through to completion so we have a chance to see what really works in practice as well as on paper.

Wildlife Legislation
None of our clients wants to fall foul of the law yet the raft of wildlife legislation can be a confusing area for the non-specialist. We work with our clients to ensure that they are aware of wildlife legislation as it relates to their sites and operations. To aid compliance we may prepare method statements and timetables for works, put in place Biodiversity Management Systems, provide training to staff and contractors, and prepare and oversee European Protected Species licence applications.

Code for Sustainable Homes (CSH) and Breeam
The Code for Sustainable Homes is an environmental impact rating system for housing in England & Wales. September 2010 saw compliance with the code become mandatory for new build dwellings for the public and private sector. BRE Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM) is a voluntary measurement rating for green buildings that was established in the UK by the Building Research Establishment (BRE).
